Callum Burkinshaw
Callum receiving his 10 year trophy, December 20102
My ten years of Kung Fu training have taught me many things that can help me through life. Throughout the ten years I have competed in many competitions receiving a variety of medals and trophies, including both National, International and World championships.
Entering these various competitions from an early age has really boosted my confidence and allowed me to have faith in my own abilities. The award that I was most pleased and honoured to receive was the ten year award trophy. This trophy helps me reflect upon ten years of Kung Fu and what I have learned and why I should respect this.
Apart from the White Tiger style of Kung Fu I have also had a chance of being able to train with Gordon Hooke and as well just enjoying the training and learning valuable skills from him it also gives me a better understanding of Kung Fu itself and the different ways that I can move block and strike. I think that training with Gordon has given me a greater knowledge of the White Tiger style that we predominately use for our self-defence. Further because I am learning two styles of Tiger I can then link them both together and choose the best way of doing things.

In the next ten years I hope my training will continue as well as it has done in my first 10 years. Now that I am getting older and gaining more knowledge of Kung Fu and teaching it I may want to open up my own classes in the future. And pass own my knowledge and skills to new students.
Callum training in the MMA class 2012
The last ten years of training have gone quite quickly and I have learned all different types of physical and mental skills that can come into use for everyday life. As mentioned I am self confident and very fit. The training is hard but it has given me a high degree of fitness, flexibility and stamina, as well as strong mental attitude. I am proud to have been training for ten years and I hope the next ten will be as good as the last.
