Students and instructors from far and wide met in Sil Lum Kune's home town of Bedworth before forming a convoy down the M1 to Milton Keynes, some stopped for much needed coffee on route!  We all arrived at the huge centre and promptly signed in.  For those students who were competing in the sparring competitions a trip to the various weigh-in points was next.  One of many improvements this year was the organisation of the weigh-in.  A vast array of laptops and scanners were laid out to ensure the task of processing so many competitiors was completed efficiently.

The day's competition was officially opened by the Nam Yang Pugelistic Association who performed a spectacular Dragon Dance.

One of the first cateogories to compete this year was the qingda sparring 'veterans' section.  A number of Sil Lum Kune students were competeing in this category, with gold medals being presented to many of the Sil Lum Kune students.  At this years National Championships there seemed to be a lot more Sil Lum Kune ladies competing which is only to be encouraged.

A special mention must be given to David Richardson's efforts in the form categories.  David seemed to be competing all day in the various forms and weapon categories.  David achieved a thoroughly well deserved silver medal in the long weapons category following an impressive display.

Overall this years competition was excellently organised by the BCCMA.  There were numerous improvements to the format of the competition.  One notable improvement was the seperation of the Wu Shu and Traditional forms categories.  Robert Simpson and Ian Armstrong organised the judging of the Traditional forms most effectively.

The majority of Sil Lum Kune students seemed to have a fantastic day at the championships and for those who were attending their first competition the general response was that they would be looking forward to the next competition.

Sil Lum Kune will be attending the B.C.C.M.A. Northern Championships and also conducting the annual Sil Lum Kune competition in November which will make for a busy month.   Sil Lum Kune instuctors will have the neccessary information for students wishing to attend.
